New digital health fund KELES appoints three expert advisors to accelerate healthcare growth across Europe
Paris & London – 3rd December, 2024: KELES, venture capital firm led by digital health investors David Buller and Laurent Van Lerberghe, appoints three expert advisors to strengthen its leadership team and accelerate progress in European digital health innovation.
Continuing momentum from the fund’s launch on 8th October 2024, KELES is joined by experienced leaders Annette Veltmar, Betina Langemark and Marie-Flore Nabor, who bring invaluable expertise across healthcare, digital health, startup growth and value creation investments.
David Buller, KELES Managing Partner, said, “This new exceptional talent addition is an exciting step for us. The fund is moving from strength-to-strength and we’re bringing in new leaders to guide and support the execution of the KELES vision. Uniting skills and strengths from Marie-Flore, Betina, and Annette on this mission will be powerful, and will help us bridge the gap for the companies innovating in the digital health space.”
KELES focuses on investments in European digital health companies, investing in proven solutions across research and development (R&D), diagnostics, and patient care - and aims to kick-start growth from startup scaling to international and global impact.
The new expert advisory team will enhance KELES’ ability to do this; the respective forces and personalities combined will place the fund in an even stronger position to scale and nurture companies, and demonstrate best-practice for digital health innovation scaling in Europe. This is possible from their proven track records in scaling businesses, strategic leadership, and driving innovation.
- Annette Veltmar brings more than 25 years of leadership in life sciences, including senior roles at Deciphera Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, and AstraZeneca. Her expertise in rare diseases, oncology, and specialty care, combined with advisory experience for private equity and venture capital firms as well as 10 years strategic consulting at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), makes her an invaluable asset to KELES. Annette will focus on deal flow analysis and providing strategic guidance to portfolio companies navigating growth and market access.
- Betina Langemark, CEO and co-founder of digital medtech scale-up WARD 24|7, has a proven track record of transforming patient monitoring in hospital wards to improve safety and reduce costs. With 25 years of experience spanning big pharma, biotech, and medtech, she brings valuable expertise in innovation, commercialisation, and scaling businesses. Betina’s hands-on leadership will be critical in helping KELES-backed companies achieve scalable growth.
- Marie-Flore Nabor, Ph.D., MBA is a seasoned leader in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, with over 20 years’ experience driving growth and operational excellence across international markets. She has held senior positions at Abbott and AstraZeneca, where she honed her expertise in digital health, commercial strategy, and organisational transformation. At KELES, Marie-Flore will leverage her strategic insight to identify growth opportunities and guide impactful transformations in portfolio companies.
Named after the ancient Greek word for “racehorse” or “fast sailing ship,” KELES symbolises the firm’s commitment to speed, agility, and leadership in driving forward healthcare innovation. It aims to accelerate digital health growth across Europe and build global champions.
The founders are committed to investing in transformative healthcare innovations that tackle global challenges while delivering strong financial returns, focusing on new R&D models, and AI and data-enabled diagnostics and patient care.
