The porphyrin ligand is a planar, dianionic macrocycle with four nitrogen donors in a square planar arrangement, with a hole size of radius close to 2.0 Å. Phthalocyanine (Pc) molecules are macrocyclic compounds composed of an inner porphyrazine ring that connects four isoindole groups giving rise to the characteristic cross-like shape.
