VisualDx partners with Emergence Health to support urgent care clinicians with diagnosis and treatment decisions
Global Leader in Web-Based Clinical Decision Support to Provide Tools to Enhance Patient Care and Outcomes at Urgent Care Locations across New England
ROCHESTER, NY – Nov. 30, 2022 – VisualDx, an award-winning web-based clinical decision support system, has partnered with Emergence Health Holdings, an urgent care network operating ClearChoiceMD and CareWell urgent care centers throughout New England, to offer assistive technology to all clinicians in the network. As part of the engagement, Emergence Health providers can leverage VisualDx for guidance with diagnosis and treatment decisions, helping to drive improved outcomes as well as reduce unnecessary referrals.
Emergence Health providers will be able to access VisualDx’s clinical search capabilities and unmatched medical image library to help with differential diagnosis, treatment, and patient communication for a range of conditions across primary care as well as dermatology, orthopedics, and optometry. As part of the engagement, providers can also use DermExpert, an AI and machine learning-fueled app that analyzes photos of patient skin conditions to assist with clinical decision-making.
“Urgent care has been experiencing increasing demand between the emergence of more rare, infectious diseases like Covid and monkeypox, and rising rates of clinician burnout and shortages,” said Art Papier, MD, CEO of VisualDx. “We are excited to partner with Emergence Health and equip its providers with tools to support diagnosis and treatment decisions for a broad range of conditions, as well as optimize patient communication, engagement, and outcomes.”
Emergence Health Holdings operates 39 urgent care facilities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and is committed to providing on-demand, high-quality, and affordable care to patients across the region.
“Our team is always looking to enhance our ability to address the health concerns of every patient that walks through our doors, while delivering a positive experience,” said Joseph Sicard, Director of Clinical Operations at ClearChoiceMD Urgent Care. “Working with VisualDx will take things to new heights by giving our clinical staff assistive tools to help accurately and efficiently diagnose myriad patient concerns, even in specialty areas like dermatology and orthopedics that may otherwise require referrals.”
This news comes on the heels of other recent collaborations VisualDx has embarked on, further expanding access to its clinical support technology across the industry. The company teamed up with the Vermont Department of Health on the Clinician Support Initiative, offering its technology to providers statewide for help with diagnosis and response to public health threats. VisualDx is working with HHS’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) on AI/ML that identifies infectious diseases for the Digital Medical Countermeasures program.
The company also teamed up with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to create the Monkeypox Emergency Medicine Project, an up-to-date resource of monkeypox images and reference materials to help emergency clinicians test, diagnose, and treat the emergent disease.
