Cotiviti Recognized by Both Stevie® 2021 American Business Awards and Fast Company World Changing Ideas Awards Programs
SALT LAKE CITY-- Cotiviti, a leader in data-driven healthcare solutions, has received recognition from two premier business award programs for its COVID-19 Outbreak Tracker, which identifies potentially hidden infection “hot spots” across the U.S. to help the country respond to the pandemic. Cotiviti received a Stevie® Award in the 2021 American Business Awards® and a Fast Company 2021 World Changing Ideas Award in the AI and Data category.
“As soon as COVID-19 emerged, we knew our healthcare platform and analytics expertise would prove invaluable for pandemic response—especially given the critical insights into healthcare performance we glean from our data every day. As a result, we developed a COVID-19 Outbreak Tracker to help the healthcare industry and the country proactively combat the pandemic by predicting where infections would surge next,” said Emad Rizk, M.D., chairman, president, and CEO of Cotiviti. “Cotiviti is honored to be selected by both Stevie and Fast Company for the positive impact our tracker has had on the fight against COVID-19. This recognition, in addition to being recognized by Forbes for supporting the pandemic response, are a testament to the value and power of healthcare analytics in tackling the biggest obstacles of today, and whatever might come tomorrow.”
Cotiviti’s COVID-19 Outbreak Tracker prospectively identifies regions across the country that may see infection outbreaks within seven to ten days, based on indicators common to most COVID-19 cases. By analyzing COVID-19 screening procedures across millions of medical claims and comparing against historical trends, Cotiviti’s map has an >80% accuracy rate at identifying future instances of outbreak. This helps the healthcare industry shift its response from reactive to proactive without relying solely on COVID-19 testing data. The map leverages data from the company’s Caspian Clarity platform—the most complete, enriched longitudinal healthcare data reserve in the United States, representing approximately 40% of all Americans with health insurance coverage.
“As we navigate through the late stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, and reflect back on the past year, it’s clearer than ever that data analytics are an essential, and powerful, piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding healthcare quality and cost,” said Nicole Neumarker, executive vice president, development and innovation of Cotiviti. “Our COVID-19 Outbreak Tracker demonstrates what is possible with vast amounts of data and advanced analytics, underscoring the importance of shifting away from data siloes and toward robust ecosystems of diverse, historic patient information in order to better predict and respond to future shifts in the healthcare landscape.”
The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. More than 3,800 nominations—a record number—from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry, were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories. Cotiviti was nominated under a newly created COVID-19 response category, which was introduced to honor the contributions of individuals, groups, and organizations that have worked valiantly over the past year to keep our citizens safe, healthy, employed, and informed. Cotiviti’s accomplishment specifically recognizes the company for developing technical innovations to advance the response to the COVID-19 virus.
The World Changing Ideas Awards recognizes companies and organizations addressing the world’s most intractable problems through technology, science, design, finance, education, and philanthropy. A panel of eminent Fast Company editors and reporters selected winners and finalists from a world-wide pool of more than 4,000 entries across transportation, education, food, politics, technology, and more. Cotiviti’s offering was judged on a number of factors including impact, design, scalability, and ingenuity.
