BridgeHead HealthStore™ Helps Hospitals Extend Life of NetApp and Cisco FlexPod® Systems

February 27, 2014

Flexible archiving offering enables hospitals to cost-effectively store data on-site or in the cloud

WOBURN, MA, UNITED STATES - Feb 27, 2014 - BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced BridgeHead HealthStore for FlexPod, a new data archive offering that reduces costs and improves healthcare data management for hospitals.  BridgeHead HealthStore extends the capability of Cisco and NetApp's FlexPod® Select, and leverages the BridgeHead Healthcare Data Management (HDM) software to add integrated archive for many healthcare applications including PACS and EMR.

The HealthStore offering provides a flexible storage architecture for clinical and administrative data in hospitals. As part of the solution, active-archive allows hospitals to automatically identify and move static healthcare data within FlexPod Select and across NetApp's robust tiered storage including FAS and E-Series systems. These systems can be located in a hospital's primary data center, in remote sites, and also in a hosted cloud.

The HealthStore approach protects hospital data with point-in-time copies, which facilitating aggressive retention policies on the main storage.  Archived data can be seamlessly retrieved by hospital applications and, because of BridgeHead's integration with NetApp's tiered storage capabilities and its knowledge of how those applications operate, hospital workflow remains highly responsive and supportive to clinical requirements.

"HealthStore takes a best-of-breed approach, building on the Cisco and NetApp FlexPod converged infrastructure, to offer a purpose-built solution for hospital data management," said Dave Nesvisky, Executive Director NetApp Healthcare. "BridgeHead's capabilities for managing hospital application data, combined with NetApp's storage management features, deliver big savings to NetApp healthcare customers by allowing them to maintain the continued high utilization of all their components and resources. The key is that all types of hospital data are kept highly available within a unified searchable repository."

"Capitalizing on the integration between the BridgeHead HDM Solution and NetApp and Cisco FlexPod, HealthStore gives NetApp healthcare customers a central, easily managed data repository for archiving disparate data stores," said Tony Cotterill, chairman and CPO, BridgeHead Software. "Once hospitals have centralized all their archive data on HealthStore, they have the option to locate that archive on-site or to move it to the Cloud."
