ActiveRADAR Adds Seasoned Managed Care Pharmacy Pioneer, Norrie Thomas, Ph.D. M.S., R.Ph, to Board of Directors
SACRAMENTO, CA, UNITED STATES - Feb 26, 2019 - ActiveRADAR, a company specializing in pharmacy cost reduction programs for employers, trust funds and health plans, today announced that Norrie Thomas, Ph.D. M.S., R.Ph, has joined its board of directors. Dr. Thomas is an accomplished pharmacy and regulatory leader and brings to the board a wealth of knowledge specific to pharmacy benefit management (PBM) companies and employer benefits organizations. She will draw on her rich experience in the field to support ActiveRADARs continued growth as well as product development and strategic partnerships.
Thomas brings more than 40 years of pharmacy and managed care experience to her role on the ActiveRADAR Board of Directors, including her work launching, managing, and selling several companies, such as Clinical Pharmacy Advantage, one of the countrys first PBMs. Throughout her storied career, Thomas has held leadership positions at some of the nations most influential pharmacy and managed care organizations like Aetna, McKesson Corporation, and Eli Lilly. Thomas also has a proven history of dedication to innovation and forward-thinking industry leadership as a founder of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) and a member of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).
Drug pricing has now reached a boiling point in this country, after decades of PBMs, drug manufacturers, and other lobbying groups operating largely unchecked. As a result, consumers, employers, and legislators are all incurring insurmountable costs, said Thomas. ActiveRADARs reference pricing solution is the disruption we need, as it gives organizations and individuals the agency to reduce their drug spend, and Im eager to help the ActiveRADAR team confront this nationwide issue.
Previously, Thomas served as President and Managing Director at Manchester Square Group, a healthcare consulting company focused on managed care pharmacy and health economics, and as Senior Vice President of Pharmacy at Magellan Behavioral Health, a behavioral managed care company. Since 2011, Thomas has also served as an adjunct professor at the Center for Leading Healthcare Change, part of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota, where she earned her doctoral and masters degrees in pharmacy administration, as well as her bachelors degree in pharmacy.
Were excited to welcome Norrie to our board, as she brings deep knowledge spanning many decades in the industry, said David Henka, President and CEO of ActiveRADAR. Were constantly reviewing and updating our model to identify less expensive prescription options, and Norries insights will be an invaluable asset to this process. I look forward to working together to help make affordable drugs a reality for plan sponsors and their members alike.
