October 1, 2018 | In 2019 Bio-IT World is launching the Innovative Practices Awards, an elite awards program designed to recognize partnerships and projects pushing our industry forward.

The entry window for the inaugural competition is now open. The entry form and full details are available at www.bio-itworld.com/innovativepractices. Entries submitted by the advanced deadline, November 30, 2018, incur no fee. The final deadline is February 1, 2019.

“The Innovative Practices Awards strive to highlight strategies that can be widely shared and implemented across the industry to improve the quality, pace, and reach of our science,” said Allison Proffitt, editorial director of Bio-IT World. “This is what makes our community so powerful: collaborations that propel all of us forward.”

For sixteen years, the Bio-IT World Best Practices Awards have served as a formal record of the bio-IT community’s progress, creativity, and dedication to improving life sciences research. The Innovative Practices Awards holds much of the same mission.

Over the years, we have recognized hundreds of winners, all outstanding examples of technology innovation in the life sciences and partnerships that raise the bar on what we can accomplish.

Our 2018 class of winners was again remarkable. Alexion used a toy to launch a rare disease diagnostic tool. Takeda built a system of electroreception for medical reviewers. Celgene freed researchers from their labs. AstraZeneca applied deep learning to screening. And at Mass General, they are building a more robust clinical trials pipeline with aggregated data. But our judges couldn’t stop there. They recognized Pfizer and Jackson Labs with honorable mentions for a machine learning approach to document classification and building next gen knowledgebases.
