BioIVT to Discuss In Vitro Hepatic Models for Toxicity Studies at the AAPS Joint Workshop on Drug Transporters in ADME

April 16, 2018

BioIVT will also showcase its hepatocyte products and micropatterned co-culture liver models

WESTBURY, NY - Apr 16, 2018 - BioIVT, a leading provider of biospecimens and related services, today announced that it will be participating in two sessions at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Joint Workshop on Drug Transporters in ADME: From The Bench To The Bedside. This event will be held from Apr. 16-18 at the Hyatt Regency Dulles in Herndon, VA.

“As drugs become more complex, there is an ongoing need for in vitro hepatic model systems that are as close as possible to a facsimile of the in vivo system to facilitate optimal toxicology studies,” said Kenneth Brouwer, PhD, RPh, Vice President, ADME-Tox, at BioIVT.

“BioIVT works hard to ensure that our product portfolio continues to evolve to meet industry needs. For example, we are now offering HEPATOPAC® kits, which are micropatterned co-culture liver models for both short and long-term ADME, toxicology and efficacy studies. We added those kits to our portfolio in March with our acquisition of Ascendance Biotechnology, Inc.”

BioIVT will be presenting during the following sessions:

Monday, Apr. 16
12:15 - 12:45 pm

Presentation - “Organic Solute Transporter OSTα/β: An Overlooked Transporter in Drug-Bile Acid Interactions”

Presenters - Dr. Brouwer and Melina Malinen, PhD, MSc Pharm, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy

This session will cover basolateral efflux transporter function and regulation in different disease states. Drs. Brouwer and Malinen will discuss whether organic solute transporters should be considered in drug development.

1:00 - 1:30 pm and 6:30 - 7:00 pm

Poster P116 - “C-DILI™ Assay: Integrating BSEP Inhibition and FXR Antagonism to Improve Prediction of Cholestatic Drug-Induced Liver Injury”

Presenter - Dr. Brouwer

Attendees will be able to learn more about BioIVT’s suite of liver-derived products, including its TRANSPORTER CERTIFIEDTM hepatocytes, and LIVERPOOL® cryoplateable, and cryosuspension human hepatocytes in booth #7. Its HEPATOPAC kits will also be offered. In addition, BioIVT PHASEZERO® Research Services consultants will be available to answer technical questions.
