DDN Introduces Solution for Enterprise-Wide Mobile Data Access
By Bio-IT World Staff
February 22, 2016 | DDN, creator of the WOS object storage platform for simplified data storage and access at multi-petabyte scale, has launched a new product for enterprise data governance as employees access files at home and through mobile devices. The solution, called WOS Enterprise Protect, can be deployed on DDN’s object storage hardware, or as software on other forms of private cloud.
“Today’s global enterprises are challenged with protecting and maintaining reliable access to a growing amount of information living outside of the data center,” says Molly Rector, DDN’s Executive Vice President for Product Management and Worldwide Marketing, in a statement. “Various software and hardware components in the marketplace claim to solve file sync and share and endpoint backup challenges, but most actually address only a fraction of the problem, and require sourcing multiple products from multiple vendors.”
WOS Enterprise Protect replaces ad hoc use of personal cloud solutions like Dropbox and Google Drive with shared access to an on-premise cloud through employees’ personal computers and phones, running any major operating system. Data is easily synced and backed up without duplication, and security features allow IT managers to monitor activity and set access controls through a single dashboard. When purchased as an integrated appliance, WOS Enterprise Protect supports 32 trillion objects and an Exabyte of capacity.
The solution is available for sale now.
