GSK Updates on Social Media Tracking
October 6, 2015
October 6, 2015 | GlaxoSmithKline and Epidemico won a 2015 Bio-IT World Best Practices award last year for ProjectCRAWL, an effort to survey social media to alert GSK to adverse events. Yesterday, GSK's director of pharmacovigilance, Greg Powell, gave an update on how the pharma is using Epidemico's data. GSK collected social media mentions of 1,000 of the company's drugs. Epidemico de-identifys the data, filters it and removes noise. In at least one case, Powell said, the data revealed a manufacturing defect in an over-the-counter medication. MobiHealthNews
