August 4, 2014
August 4, 2014 | U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that Genomics England, the publicly-owned company created one year ago with the mission of sequencing 100,000 human genomes, will receive an additional £300 million (~$505 million) to reach its goal by the end of 2017. The funding package includes a new sequencing facility, to be housed by the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, and a partnership with sequencing company Illumina, which will sequence the genomes and also pledges to invest heavily in its U.K. operations.
