Novartis Signs On to License Google's Glucose-Monitoring Contact Lenses

July 16, 2014 | Google and Novartis have announced a partnership for Novartis to license Google's smart contact lens that could measure a wearer's blood sugar levels. Novartis admitted to having tried to develop a similar lens several years ago, but failing. The Google project benefited from expertise in miniaturization, Novartis said. Google's founders said recently that while some of their health-related research is "very cool", they are not interested in dealing with the health regulatory climate. New York Times
