Twist Bioscience Takes in Funding Round for DNA Synthesizer
May 28, 2014
May 28, 2014 | Twist Bioscience yesterday announced a $26 million Series B funding round, as well as a $5 million DARPA contract, to continue development of a high-throughput DNA synthesis device. The Twist machine performs synthesis on a silicon semiconductor chip with thousands of microwells, which the developers expect to increase the speed with which new DNA can be manufactured while controlling errors. The new funding will be put toward hiring dozens of employees in the San Francisco area and a proposed service launch in 2015. Xconomy
