IBM Launches Elastic Storage

May 12, 2014

May 12, 2014 | Today, IBM made available an "Elastic Storage" product portfolio, which distributes data efficiently across storage systems in much the same way that high-volume computing is distributed across servers. Elastic Storage automatically assesses how often data is accessed, reserving an organization's fastest storage resources for the most frequently-used data. IBM has been using a memory infrastructure similar to Elastic Storage internally for its Watson supercomputing program, and is now making the system available to customers both as software and as a cloud-based service.
