Duke's Plans for the Soon-to-be Defunct Institute for Genome Sciences
April 10, 2014
April 10, 2014 | Duke's plans for the Institute for Genome Sciences & Policy were made public in late March--a formal dismantling July 1. The change, which Bio-IT World reported in late November, breaks the larger institute into three units: Applied Genomics & Precision Medicine, Computational Biology & Integrative Genomics and Duke Science & Society. An article in today's Duke Chronicle lays out the history of the decision, implications for other institutes, and the goals of the new unit directors.
