Personalized Cancer Care Makes IBM's 5 in 5

December 17, 2013 | Every year since 2006, IBM has released its "5 in 5" list of new technologies that will change our daily lives within five years. This year's list has a tight focus on big data, IBM's own area of specialty, and personalized cancer care has made the grade. IBM, whose Watson supercomputer has been involved in this area at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, predicts that we are now within five years of routinely sampling tumor DNA to design personally tailored drug regimens for cancer cases.
