Oracle Joins OpenStack's List of Sponsors

December 11, 2013

December 11, 2013 | Oracle has become a corporate sponsor of the OpenStack Foundation, joining such companies as Red Hat, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Rackspace and Canonical in support of the open source cloud operating system community. Oracle, which offers its own set of cloud computing tools, also announced that parts of the OpenStack platform will be integrated into a number of its products. Although sponsorship of OpenStack is a minor financial commitment, it could be interpreted as a symbolic gesture indicating Oracle's willingness to embrace customer choice and flexibility in assembling IT solutions, even as the company sells its suite of products as a fully-integrated, single-source IT hardware and software infrastructure.
