PeerJ Rolls Out New Open Access Journal, Platform

February 15, 2013 | This week, PeerJ published its first articles--on sauropod necks, the cups and balls trick, anti-apoptotic signaling in mammalian hibernation and more. The scientific publishing site is more than just an open access publisher. PeerJ has built an innovative platform from scratch, so the submission, peer review, and publication processes happen in a new way. For example, peer review is open--reviewers are encouraged to leave their names with their comments, and authors are encouraged to publish the review "history."
