July 17, 2012 | Life Technologies Corp, the maker of the Ion Torrent next-gen sequencing instruments, has purchased closely held personal genomics company Navigenics, bolstering its ability to provide gene diagnostics in a fast-growing market.
Navigenics’s government-approved medical genetics laboratory and data systems will speed development of tests that help doctors prescribe cancer drugs, said Greg Lucier, Life’s chairman and CEO, who also hinted that other related acquisitions might be in the offing. Bloomberg Businessweek
