NGS Sample Prep

Rubicon Genomics has launched the first product in its innovative ThruPLEX family of sample preparation kits designed and optimized for next generation sequencing (NGS).  ThruPLEX-FD kits leverage Rubicon’s patented DNA repair and ligation methods to deliver significantly faster and more sensitive sequencing of plasma, formalin-fixed, ChIP and other fragmented DNA with substantially increased throughput.  ThruPLEX kits are also applicable to sample preparation for PCR and microarray testing. ThruPLEX-FD is a streamlined one-tube, three-step process without intermediate purifications, transfers, columns or gels. It is currently available as 48-reaction, 12-index kits for sequencing on Illumina HiSeq, MiSeq and Genome Analyzer instruments.  ThruPLEX-FD kits are also being developed for additional formats and platforms.

Dissolution Solution

Agilent Technologies has introduced the 280-DS Mechanical Qualification System, a new instrument for routine and effortless calibration of a dissolution apparatus. The 280-DS accurately measures, verifies, and documents physical parameters established with recently enhanced mechanical qualification standards, eliminating the need for visual interpretation of measurements from manual gauges.         Dissolution is a technique used in the pharmaceutical industry to determine the rate at which active pharmaceutical ingredients release from solid dosage forms such as tablets and capsules. The 280-DS Mechanical Qualification System, with its 280-DS Workstation Software, redefines dissolution qualification with optical-sensing technology that delivers virtually hands-free measurements in seconds.
