May 24, 2012 | The Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellowship has released the call for applicants for the sixth annual Singapore NRF Fellowship. The fellowship consists of a five-year research grant of up to $2.4 million to an individual, for research undertaken in Singapore. Unlike fellowships that are awarded to institutions, the NRF Fellowship is awarded to an individual, allowing the researcher to have more flexibility in choosing a suitable host organization in Singapore. Fellowship proposals are due by August 15, 2012.
The fellowship is open to outstanding scientists and researchers under the age of 40 of any nationality, currently residing in any country. Researchers should possess a doctorate in any discipline of computer science, life sciences, all branches of engineering, or medicine.
Successful fellows will be able to pursue research at a Singaporean organization of his or her choice and receive a separate, competitive salary at the Assistant Professor level and a tenure-track appointment at the chosen institution. Their success will be evaluated based on the quality and impact of research and his or her direct interaction with industry or generation of intellectual property.
Singapore has been heavily investing in research and development over the past 20 years and has pledged to invest an additional $12 billion in the next five years to cement its place as a research powerhouse in Asia.
Applications for the NRF Fellowship may be submitted online at https://rita.nrf.gov.sg/AboutUs/NRF_Initiatives/nrff2013/default.aspx
