March 5, 2012 | The Food and Drug Administration warned last week that statins could be causing a sharp increase in Type 2 diabetes and contributing to memory loss among users. Statins have been available since the 1980s, but their role in diabetes did not surface for years. The risk could be as high as one in 200 patients on one of the most potent statins. New York Times
