Watching Proteins Fold with Anton

October 18, 2010

October 18, 2010 | Anton, a specially-designed supercomputer, has simulated changes in a protein's structure over a millisecond, a time-scale more than a hundred-fold greater than previous records. Testing Anton's prowess, researchers at D. E. Shaw Research looked at the protein fragment WW domain and the basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor. The test revealed that the proteins changed as they folded and unfolded in a constant dynamic process. The simulation took about 100 days. Nature News
