For Success in Lab Automation, Bridge the Gap Between Science and IT
Bio-IT World | When implementing laboratory automation, one of the biggest challenges can be group dynamics: getting scientific and IT teams on the same page. Both groups are integral to the success of an automated setup, but often they have very different perspectives and might even be resistant to working together. It’s important to understand why so that we can overcome this issue.

Global Collaboration Enables Headway On Rare Neuroendocrine Tumors
Bio-IT World | Researchers in Madrid recently wrapped up the largest-yet genomic study of rare neuroendocrine tumors, known as pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas, which identified a seemingly perfect panel of metastatic disease markers as well as a group of patients who could potentially benefit from immunotherapy. The objective here is a better means to predict, at the time of diagnosis of the primary tumor, whether patients will be immediately affected by cancer spread.

Neighborhood Analysis Highlights Role Of Macrophages In ER+ Breast Cancers
Bio-IT World | When it comes to breast cancer, the most commonly occurring estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) variety is a poor candidate for treatment with conventional immunotherapies designed to help the patient’s own immune system fight back. Unlike triple-negative breast cancer, ER+ tumors don’t have many infiltrating T cells so potentiating their function alone doesn’t make much of a difference.
